Peter Bachmann, the Austrian producer of smoked salmon specialties from the Gail Valley in Carinthia, who supplies his deliciacies as far as Moscow or Dubai, selects each year with a panel of experts a wine which accompanies best his highly regarded products. Together with Sepp Baldrian - founder and editor of the well-known magazine ?Der Weinbau? und for more than 40 years recognized in the wine industry - they head a panel of jurors in a two-tier, anonymous screening process to evaluate wines submitted from across Austria.

2011 they asked the Austrian wineries to nominate something very special for this prestiguous award:  either a fruity and unique cuvee or a "Gemischer Satz", a specialty produced in Austria by joint fermentation of grapes of different vine varieties grown joíntly in one common vineýard.

The winery Wukits from Neuhaus/Wart, located in the southern part of Burgenland, got for this years contest all their homework right. Their "Gemischte Satz Alte Rebe" was chosen winner. A further proof of the steady work of Elisabeth and Johann Wukits to consistently deliver high quality wines.
